How we collect your personal information

We collect most of your personal information from you.

This is collected at predominantly four locations:

  • When you visit an Laubman & Pank associated optometrist for an eye examination;
  • When you visit an Laubman & Pank retail outlet to purchase eyewear and associated products;
  • When you order contact lenses from Laubman & Pank Direct; or
  • When you contact Laubman & Pank via the telephone, mail, e-mail, facsimile or enter information on our website.

Typically the type of information we collect about you (or your business) includes name, postal address, date of birth, email, telephone, driver's licence number, user names and passwords, bank account and credit card or other credit details and (for clinical purposes and for competitions) photographs. Our optometrist or optical dispenser may also ask questions on lifestyle, occupation and hobbies to assist in choosing the best eyecare and eyewear options available.

There may also be occasions when we need to obtain personal information from a third party. For example, we may collect personal information from our related entities, current and prospective customers, the public (such as someone who refers you to us), credit reporting agencies, your health fund or from a government agency such as the Department of Veterans Affairs or from vendor's of businesses the Luxottica Group acquires.

How we use your personal information

Collected information is used to provide and promote our goods and services to you and administer, manage and improve those services. In order to do this, we may disclose your personal information to related companies and to organisations outside of Luxottica - primarily those organisations which manage our business and corporate strategies. Your optometrist and optical dispenser have access to your records for professional purposes only.

We may also use your contact details to:

  • Verify your identity;
  • Advise you on your eyecare needs including when you need another eye test;
  • Advise you if we relocate;
  • Seek your input on your service from Laubman & Pank; and
  • Keep you updated with new eyewear products and services and special promotions and offers.

Our optometrists, with your consent, may refer you to an eye doctor and forward relevant information to that medical practitioner about your particular condition. We will not sell your information to any person or organisation without your consent, unless it is part of a sale of our business. We adhere to privacy legislation by only using your personal information for the purpose it was collected or consented to be collected (for instance by agreeing to separate terms and conditions), and for directly related secondary purposes. Where you have agreed to terms and conditions, they will apply in addition to this privacy policy.

We keep your personal information up-to-date

We require accurate personal information about you to ensure you receive the best possible service from Laubman & Pank.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is up-to-date whenever we collect it or use it.

If you find that current personal information we hold about you is inaccurate or out-of-date, please contact us immediately and we will correct it.

Laubman & Pank will on request provide you with information about you which Laubman & Pank holds.

This information can be accessed by calling the Laubman & Pank help desk on 1800 626 300 during business hours. Please ensure you are able to advise which retail outlet you last visited for eyecare services and eyewear product.

Your request for information will be dealt within a reasonable timeframe. A small charge may be applicable to cover the administration costs involved in providing the information to you.

We store your personal information securely

We protect any personal information that we hold from misuse and loss. We also protect if from unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

Only authorised users can access your personal information, and access is only for approved purposes.

Your personal information may be stored in hard copy documents or electronically.

We maintain physical security over our paper and electronic data storage. We also maintain computer and network security for example, we use firewalls (security measures for the Internet) and other systems such as user identifiers and passwords to control access to computer systems.

All our employees are bound by the highest principles of confidentiality, breach of which is penalised by dismissal.

The Internet has enabled Laubman & Pank to service some of our customers' needs by electronic commerce.
